I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day…whether you were a mom being celebrated or celebrating your own mom!  I spent a majority of the day digging in the backyard doing our annual backyard clean-up…it was a good day!

Speaking of a good day, I had such a blast with Jordan who happens to be my newest Senior Spokes Model at Allen HS.  Jordan is such a confident girl and I love that, especially in teens!  The locations, the outfits, Jordan…they all just went perfectly together to create the most magical senior session.

Oh and yeah, she’s one heck of a dancer too!  I feel so blessed to capture these girls doing what they love…dancing.  Once upon a time, I was on drill team too but I certainly don’t remember having this kind of talent!

Enjoy!

What a crazy busy weekend it was! Dinner with friends, Derby Days at the local horse track and an entire day spent sprucing up our front yard. I’m not one of those that has a “case of the Mondays” (name that movie) but I wouldn’t mind just ONE more day spent lounging around the house in my pj’s doing NOTHING. Seriously. Who do I contact to petition for a 3 day weekend?

Even though everything went by in a blur this weekend, all I have to do is stop and take a look at Isabelle. She exuded a sense of calm and peace about her…super chill and relaxed. That, combined with her beauty, makes for a GREAT senior session!

I’ve been waiting to share more images from Lexi’s session we had at the end of February and here they are!  I had such a great time with Lexi and with the location…it just seemed that there were little nooks and crannies of amazingness everywhere you looked.  Combine that with a beautiful green-eyed, blonde senior and WOW!

Lexi is my newest 2011 Senior Rep from Allen HS.  Not only is she ridiculously gorgeous (seriously, those EYES!) but she is a very talented dancer!  If you know Lexi, talk to her about senior pictures!

And if YOU would like to book your senior session, you can email me at info@amiiwroblewski.com for more information!

Um, seriously….GORGEOUS!

It’s been a while since I did a contest so I thought I would do something to celebrate spring’s arrival!  I’m always on the hunt for awesome locations to take my clients to but I thought I would let you in on the location-scouting fun and offer a contest!

To enter, you must submit a recent photo (within last 6 months) of a location that you think would be perfect for a photography session.  The location must be accessible to the public (so no private property UNLESS you obtain written permission from the owner for Amii Wroblewski Photography and her clients to use this location), must be free of charge AND within 25 miles of zip code 75077.  All photos must be taken by you or you must have permission to use a photo that someone else has taken.  You may only enter one photo for the contest…if you include any additional photos/locations, only the first photo will be entered in the contest.

What will the winner get?  A complimentary session for up to 5 people at their winning location ($200 value).   The winner’s session will also be featured on my blog and on Facebook!  The winner must have their session on or before May 31, 2010.  Please review my print and product pricing (see HERE) before entering the contest - however, there will be no minimum purchase required!

All photo submissions must be emailed to info@amiiwroblewski.com with a quick description of the location and an address/directions to the location.  Please make sure to include a zip code so I can verify that it is located within 25 miles of zip code 75077.

So how will I be judging this?  I’m looking for a location that has a lot of personality and something a little out of the norm!  An example may be a junk yard with rusty old cars with an old building on it.  Or it could be a beautiful field on the side of the road.  Even a side street in a city could have lots of personality…large dumpster and all!  I will be visiting the locations submitted to make sure they meet all the above criteria AND to see how well the places will work for a photography session.

Alright…that’s it!  Get out and get creative with your locations!  All submissions must be emailed to me by Friday April 9th by 11:59pm CST.  I will announce the winner the week of April 19th!  Have fun scouting…and remember to find a place that YOU would like to also be photographed at should you win!

And because a post is no good without a picture…my son, because he makes me smile!

I’m going to warn you, this post will be all over the place!  I just had some random tidbits to share that I’ve wanted to share before but never felt that each was entitled to its own post, so I’m lumping them all together!

Like this picture…it’s awesome and it’s straight out of my camera – no editing except to resize it for the web and plop my watermark on it.  But I really can’t take credit for this picture.  I would have NEVER even bothered to look up in the hotel courtyard in Arizona at night but my husband has a keen eye.  He looked up and said “That would make an awesome picture” and so I whipped out my camera and took it.  The sky was really that color that night and the palms look out of this world lit up against that blue sky.

I’m on a “Get Healthy” campaign that started as of Monday morning.  My biggest hurdle will be to get more active since I really eat pretty well as it is.  I’ll share a bit here and there but my goal is to lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks.  And to prove that you can eat like a king when you are supposed to be getting healthy, here is a pic of one of our dinners this week:  Farfalle with Lamb Ragu, Ricotta and Mint with Baby Greens Salad(from Cooking Light).  All for a measley 464 calories and less than 17g of fat!  YUM!

Last Saturday was both the neighborhood Egg Hunt and opening day for baseball!  The egg hunt was HILARIOUS and we barely made it.  The unorganized yahoos proceed to tell the kids to “GO!” into the field to line-up.  Well the announcer was a little robust about the way he said “GO” and a gazillion 3-6 year olds went running to go get the eggs.  The announcer was screaming stop but it was too late.  Silly announcer.  This was the after picture since the kids literally mowed through the eggs before anyone was able to get pictures of their kids scrambling for eggs.

And baseball was AWESOME!  Lawyer got to play “pitcher” for the first inning (which he just LOVES) and every single batter hit the ball to him.  And he even had one play where he caught the ball and threw it to first base and the first baseman actually caught it!  Nothing like a bunch of t-ball parents screaming like the kids just won the World Series!

This is one of my fave (and only) pics I took of my husband and son at the Egg Hunt.  Gotta love some backlighting!

Oh, oh, OH!  I can NOT forget about my little garden that I just finished planting yesterday afternoon!  I did something different with the 14 square feet of space I have in this little area…I followed plans for a Square Foot Garden.  It’s such an amazing concept!  You plot out one foot squares and then just follow the guidelines for how many of each plant you can put in a single square foot.  Right now, I have lettuce, a tomato plant, okra, jalapenos, bush beans, eggplant, radishes, beets, spinach and green onions.  All but the tomato and eggplant are from seeds…I guess I felt a little ambitious this year.  Oh and I can’t forget the little strawberry pot too!  The only thing left is my herb container garden but hopefully I can get that done this week.  Anyhow, it’s nothing to look at right now but I’m hoping to eat some radishes and spinach here in 4 weeks!

I seem to be getting this question asked a lot lately so I thought I would do a post about it!  I find that a senior session is the best time to really go all out on your wardrobe but it really depends on your personality.  Knowing what your typical style is will help build an amazing wardrobe to bring along to a session.  Bringing different options will give you the best variety when it’s time to view your portraits.

Would you like some examples?  Let’s say you are a girly-girl.  When I think of a girly-girl, I think of ruffles, skirts, high heels, lipstick.  Of course, we all have our own opinions about what a girly-girl would look like but this is just to give you an idea.

I think this outfit below would be super-cute for a session…ruffles, flowers, dress, accesories…lots of details but not too much to take away from YOU!

Okay, so we have a dressy outfit picked out but what about a cute casual outfit?  I think this outfit fits the bill perfectly:

And I really like this casual option too…not as girly but I love the accesories that make this go from boring to beautiful!

Rompers are back in fashion and I just LOVE how ultra girly this outfit looks:

A few guidelines when choosing your outfits:  select clothes that you FEEL GOOD in…if you feel like the outfit isn’t you or if you feel like you are trying too hard to make an outfit look good on you, then don’t bring it!  I want you to feel the best that you can!  Also, choose clothes that are flattering on you.  Sometimes, clothing just doesn’t photograph well and the result is it doesn’t make you look your best!  No matter what, stay true to yourself but also be willing to go out on a limb!

Accesories really do make an outfit….I usually would suggest for jewelry to wear a bracelet and earrings or a necklace and earrings.  Sunglasses can be really fun!  And don’t forget about your hair, make sure to bring a headband or a rubberband to pull your hair back.  If you are into hats, whether it’s a cowboy hat or a 40’s inspired hat…bring it along too!
Hope this helps!
